Among the first resorts in Douglas County, Floding Resort has always been a favorite getaway for families, generation after generation. What keeps visitors coming back is our awesome fishing and our longstanding heritage of being committed to our guests.
It all started back in 1885 when the Floding family immigrated to Alexandria, Minnesota from Sweden. Most of the family settled in Canada, except for Uncle Art and his Dad. They chose Alexandria to start a dairy farm. Uncle Art was a big fisherman and a staunch supporter of the fishing industry. He often helped the DNR stock lakes and was a great environmentalist.
Friends and family came to visit Uncle Art every weekend,
and needing a place for them to stay, he eventually built cottages.
These cottages have since been replaced with all new cottages.
Over the years we've added all the cozy modern day comforts,
but kept the welcome mat out and the hospitality intact.
